PAMS news – week of May 19th, 2026
Grade 8 news – Each year, the Western Valley Recreation Association and the Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Branch (GNB) plan multi-sport events to expose our grade 8 female and male students to some of the sport, recreation, and cultural activities available to them within their home regions. The events are on two separate date – “Go Girls” (Perth-Andover-May 21st) and “Go-Boys” (Plaster Rock-May 28th). PAMS co-ordinates transportation and supervision for these events. This week, the PAMS girls will join grade 8 girls from Tobique Valley, St. Mary’s Academy and John Caldwell for a fun filled day on Thursday at the RVCC. Look for a permission slip on Tuesday.
Indigenous Peoples Month – June – As we approach Indigenous Peoples Month, we are pleased to offer our students a meaningful learning opportunity through a series of live virtual storytelling sessions. From May 19–22, the EECD Indigenous Education Team will host daily Teams sessions featuring Wabanaki Elders and Knowledge Carriers. Throughout the week, students and staff will participate by listening, learning, and engaging with presenters through questions and reflection. These sessions provide an important opportunity for our school community to deepen understanding and appreciation of Wabanaki history, culture, and perspectives.
Caught You Coupons – Over the past six weeks, our school has been working hard to reinforce positive school and classroom expectations. We were proud to celebrate student success with a fun trip to the AYR Centre in Woodstock this past Friday. We will continue to build on this momentum through our “Caught You Coupons” initiative. Staff will recognize students for demonstrating positive behaviors including the “we use kind words and kind voices”, and “hands off / bodies off” expectations. When a student receives a coupon, they can redeem it for a small treat, and their name is added to a recognition chart at the entrance of the school.
This initiative involves all staff reinforcing positive behaviors throughout the school, including in the hallways, on the playground, and in the cafeteria. This consistent approach helps us promote and celebrate a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment for all students.
Be sure to check out our Pawsitive Bulletin Board when you visit the school to see our students being recognized!
